The northeast direction is said to be a very positive direction and it is where temples or puja ghar should be located. As it is suggested that the prayers should be offered to bring in positivity. So having toilets (which is a negative area and is for body waste) in this direction can hamper the positivity the home might have. The results in terms of money loss and health issues occur. However, if it can't be avoided, then there are few things that you can do to control the negativity. Such as placing a bowl of sea salt in a plastic container close to the toilet and changing the water every 15 days. You can also consult a vastu consultant for more advice.

North East direction or the Ishaanya Kon as per vastu shaastra is considered an auspicious direction. As per Hindu Dharma, this direction is considered as the abode of the gods on the earth. Hence, in every house North East direction is very important and is ideal as Puja room, study room or the children room. Toilets on the other hand are a place where bodily toxins are removed, hence they are considered as negative places. Hence, toilets in the north east direction are a big no as per Vastu Shastra. There are some remedies available, for which a Vastu expert can be consulted. Also, if possible, avoid activating this zone of the house by continuous use of the toilet (if there are 2 or more toilets in the house, use others and keep this one for emergency).
