This term is generally found in Karnataka while buying a property. According to the Karnataka Government, all land in the entire state is considered fit only for agricultural use. This generally leads to conversion of land into non-agricultural land for other purposes like residential, commercial development, industrial usage or anything else.
In Karnataka, DC conversion of land is a procedure where the owner of the property needs to submit an application to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the particular district. Later, DC will approve the documents depending on the land usage to non-agricultural from agricultural.
As the DC converted land comes under B Khata category, it is advised not to build or construct anything on the land. This is because the BBMP doesn’t provide property approval to the property unless it has A Khata. Hence, many people buy such properties solely for investment purposes.
