Keep reading if you are considering having a false ceiling installed in your home. When I wanted to install a false ceiling in my home, I also had this question in mind. So if you are unsure about the process or how to calculate false ceiling areas, read about my experience.
First, you have to determine the size of the room, or any other section of the house, where the fake ceiling will be installed. How? For instance, if the room is 20 feet long and 30 feet broad, the bedroom's false ceiling will measure 15x12 feet or 600 square feet. Simply place a cornice around the room's perimeter (where the false ceiling meets the wall). The cornice's proportion and cost are determined in running feet.
If you choose to use a tray or recessed light, calculate the tray light's area. This can be completed by using the tray light proportions from the false ceiling design sketch. A 3 - 4 inch vertical segment in POP or gypsum is needed to attach the tube lights or LED strip lights within the tray light. On the criteria of length, this portion is measured in feet.
You have to measure the square footage of your ceiling's surface area.
Multiply the square footage by the unit price per square foot.
Measure the rft length of the cove.
Multiply the calculated cove length by the per rft unit pricing.
Include the cost of finishing according to the design (paint finish, polish etc.)
The total will tell you how much everything will cost.
The artificial ceiling's design and how complex and aesthetic it is.
The ceiling material's supply and availability in the marketplace.
The standard of the materials you have used.
The total area to be covered (larger areas have lower per-square-foot costs because supplies can be obtained in bulk).
Electrical wiring, gala cutting, light fittings, and surface finish are all extra charges.
Now you can calculate the false ceiling area as your query about how to calculate false ceiling area is answered here.

A false ceiling is an additional ceiling that hangs below the regular ceiling to give the impression that it is lower than it actually is in terms of structural height. The false ceiling measurement calculation is crucial before the gypsum false ceiling is installed. When the bedroom is 14 feet long and 15 feet broad, the total area for the false ceiling will be 14 * 15 = 210 square feet.
Call professional interior designers from NoBroker to decide the best false ceiling area for your home How to measure false ceiling area?When I wanted to construct a false ceiling, my interior designing expert told me that the false ceiling calculation formula is;
FCA= L∗WWhere FCA is the False Ceiling Area
L is the length of the area (ft)
W is the width of the area (ft)
The False Ceiling Area is calculated by multiplying the ceiling's length by its breadth. This should simply be the dimensions of the space that's going to have a false ceiling.

False ceilings tend to lessen the height of a room, so I will suggest you know how to calculate ceiling area, do the calculations, and then proceed. Make sure the height of the room does not decrease to a great extent, or it might hamper the overall look of the room. You will get a false ceiling calculator online, but you should also be aware of how to do it manually. There is a simple formula using which you can get the value, so let me help you understand it.
False ceiling measurement, as per the Indian Standard (IS) code (IS 6452: Part 1), is carried out using the following steps:
Calculate the area of the room:Measure the length and width of the room to calculate the floor area.
Subtract Opening areas:Deduct the area of any openings, like skylights or vents, from the total area.
Calculate the Wall Surface:Calculate the surface area of the vertical walls and deduct it from the previous result. Also, remember to do the Plaster of Paris or pop measurement to get the exact ceiling measurement.
Calculate the area of the Complex Surfaces:If the false ceiling covers sloping or complex areas, divide them into simpler shapes and add their areas.
Include Allowance:Include an allowance for wastage or additional material required during installation.
Convert the value into Square Meters:The IS code typically uses square metres for measurements, so convert the final area if necessary.

While I was planning the interior of my house, I really wanted to build a false ceiling. However, I was under the assumption that a false ceiling is extremely expensive. When I met my home interior designer, she informed me about the various types of false roofing and their approximate cost. She taught me how to calculate false ceiling cost. I can share my insights with you all;
Follow these steps to know the process of false ceiling running feet calculation;
First, determine the square footage of your ceiling's surface area.
Add the unit price per square foot to the square-foot surface area.
Calculate the cove's length in running feet (you must take into account three times the cove's length while installing it because a cove requires the installation of three internal vertical Gypsum sheets).
The determined cove length should be multiplied by the unit price per square foot.
Include the cost of applying the finishing (paint or gloss) to the project.
Your overall false ceiling design cost will be estimated for you based on this combined sum.
After understanding how false ceiling is measured, let me also highlight the different types of false ceiling and their estimated price, as was stated to me by my interior designer;
The price of a basic false ceiling made of gypsum starts at Rs. 75 per square foot. The price per square foot for a more intricate gyproc artificial ceiling might reach Rs. 125.
Costs for POP artificial ceilings range from Rs. 75 to Rs. 120 per square foot.
A grid ceiling costs Rs. 75 per square foot as a starting price. The price per square foot for metal panels starts at Rs. 90.
Starting at about Rs. 700 per square foot is the price for a laminate ceiling with a hardwood finish. Costs start at Rs. 920 per square foot for a polished hardwood veneer ceiling.
The cost of a thermocol ceiling design ranges from Rs 35 to Rs 90 per square foot.
Cost per square foot for PVC false ceilings can range from Rs. 45 to Rs. 100.
Fibre false ceilings cost about 65 rupees per square foot.
Glass false ceilings are stunning but pricey, costing anywhere from Rs. 350 to Rs. 600 per square foot.
I hope you found this answer on how to calculate false ceiling cost helps:)

A false ceiling does enhance the overall look of a house so it is great to opt for. However, before deciding on the cost, you first must know how to measure false ceilings. The main factor that affects pricing is the area that needs to be worked on. You just need to multiply the length and breadth of the ceiling to get the area. Let me share an example with you.
How is the Measurement of False Ceiling Done?
To measure a false ceiling in square feet,
You will need to find out the length and width of the area where the false ceiling will be installed
Next, multiply these two dimensions to get the square footage
For example, if the length is 12 feet and the width is 10 feet, the area is 120 square feet.
Make sure to exclude any protrusions like beams or ducts from this calculation. This method provides a straightforward way to estimate the amount of material needed for the false ceiling, ensuring you purchase the right quantity for your project.
This is how to calculate running feet for false ceiling. You can measure the area yourself but in case you struggle with it, hire a professional and let him provide you with precise measurements.
