In the year 2017 we went to Pune to visit the Sinhagad Fort and simply loved it. The trip was memorable and I decided to shift to Pune one day. Fortunately, after 2 years, I got a job offer from a company in Pune. I accepted the offer but I had my doubts as well. I wanted to know

is pune a good place to live or not. Of course, as tourists we absolutely loved it but I was curious about day to day life there. I asked one of my friends and he shared a few things with me.

How is Pune city to live in?

Being a woman, I am very much worried about my safety. I have heard so many instances about Delhi, so moving to a big city was a huge step. I was assured that Pune is a calm and quiet city where you can live, and roam freely without any hesitation. However, you should always be aware and careful when on the road.

Here are some points why I think Pune is better:

  Less Pollution and amazing weather:

Pune has great weather throughout the year. It is never too hot or too cold. Monsoon can be a bit irritating but trust me it's still manageable. In fact, unlike Mumbai, Kolkata, and Delhi, Pune is less polluted.

Properties are affordable for buying or renting

If you check out the prices of properties in Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and compare them with those in Pune, you will witness a great difference. Pune is the second largest city in Maharashtra yet the rates are much cheaper. You can find affordable rental apartments easily here and can save a lot from your salary.

  Catering a lot of opportunities:

Pune is a growing city and has become a great commercial hub in recent years. It provides diversified jobs and its overall growth rate helps people to get a job from the sea of opportunities.

  Less traffic jams:

This is the best thing about Pune. Unlike Mumbai or Bangalore, you need not get stuck in a jam for hours. The government amends roads as soon as they can so the traffic flow is great thereby making the movement of vehicles smooth and swift.

  Educational Hub:

The more educational institutions there are, the more the city is to prosper. Pune has been referred to as “Educational hub” for years. The city has about 57 Engineering colleges so you can imagine why it has earned the reputation of “Oxford of the East. So if you want to get a job here and live, be sure you will get several great educational schools and colleges to get your ward admitted there.

So if you ask me- is Pune a good place to live or not, I will say YES, it is.

My brother is an NRI, he is planning to invest in Indian real estate. His plan is to return to India, and settle in a city where he can enjoy the benefits of a metro city and lead a peaceful life. I suggested that he invest in Pune. He wasn’t sure and asked, “Is Pune good place to live?” To this I highlighted a few points that I think makes Pune one of the best cities to live in.

Is Pune Good City to Live?

  • Hilly metro city:

The city offers the best of both worlds—a hill station and a metropolis—with its year-round comfortable temperature, abundant natural resources, advanced infrastructure, and a plethora of opportunities. It gives you the peace of mind you need to run a successful career.

  • Any weekend can be used for travel:

Situated between 60 and 150 kilometres from Pune, the area is flanked by some excellent hill stations like Lonavala, Khandala, and Mahabaleshwar, as well as some amazing beaches like Ganpatipule, Alibaug, Kashid, and many more.

  • Opportunities:

It has developed into a business hub where nearly all of the major industrial companies as well as startups are present. With its diverse job market and rapid growth, the city offers something for everyone. It has become a "sea of opportunities".

  • Life at medium pace:

Pune is good for living, as opposed to other metro areas where people are constantly rushing to catch a local bus or train or to escape a traffic bottleneck. People in this place work hard yet still find time for their hobbies, sports, and social lives.

  • Less expensive than any other big cities:

The cost of living is lower in other metro areas when compared. Real estate is becoming more and more inexpensive as the city grows in all directions.

These points catered to his query, is Pune a good city to live in. I also highlighted a few localities, which are considered best to stay in Pune;

  • Hinjewadi

  • Viman Nagar

  • Koregaon Park

  • Aundh

  • Kalyani Nagar

  • NIBM Road

  • Shivaji Nagar

  • Magarpatta City

  • Kharadi

  • Hadapsar

I hope this helps!
